Thanksgiving Camping Trip

The kids and I (Chris was working) left on Wednesday to go camping at Martin Creek SP near Tatum, Tx. We knew it was going to rain but decided to go for it anyways. We arrived and set up a few things and then took to the trails since we knew by Wednesday night it would be raining. The sunset was so beautiful that evening when we were finishing out on the trails and headed back to our camp site. Thursday morning quickly became a day like any other day with Kinzy. She got mad that we were going to do our own 5K around the park and began her nastiness. We had already discussed that we all wanted to do this and it would be fun. She began running her mouth with not so nice words coming out of it and made a couple of threats towards me again. Thankfully Dexter was there again to hear these threats. We finished our walk and relaxed under the canopy for most of the day reading and talking. The rain stopped during the night with Friday being dry but cloudy all day. The kids met some girls that were also home schooled and camping with their families. They all played hide and seek most of Friday together. That was a peaceful time to sit by the lake and do some reading myself. We all slept so well in the van after being out in nature everyday. This coming week is full of appointments again with different therapists and then the doctor with The Andrews Center. Continue to pray for all of us as we continue through the holiday season.

Adjusting Well

It has been two weeks since Kinzy arrived in the USA. It was an adjustment for everyone in the beginning. She had a rough time on our first flight from Moscow to London with it being a 4 hr flight and her screaming for 3 hrs of that flight. I ried right along with her for 45min I think. She and I both were so messed up on our sleep. Then I warned the passengers around us on the flight from London to Dallas that the last flight did not go so good. She then slept at least 6 hrs of that 9 hr flight. We introduced her to the pool the day after we got home and she loves the water. I purchased a jogging stroller and she loves riding in that as well. She checked out great with the doctors weighing in at almost 23 lbs and 29.25 in tall. She is in the 50-75% for weight and 25-50% for height. She eats very good with un introducing table food right away to her. Happy Valentine's Day!!!

Chris writes I woke up early so I finally can use the computer. What a pain to share one computer on dial up with every guest in the hotel. It flurried all day Wednesday, but just a dusting. Knock on wood but the weather here has been pretty sweet for a February. It stays at high 20's low 30's, but we still miss home. We are excited to have Dexter to ourselves tommorow. This will be his first car ride. Stacy bought him some more toys at the grocery and department store. We have all our gifts bought to give to nurses,staff,head doctor, passport people, etc. Our translater says you must do this it is the way things work here. We bought flowers, chocolate, champaign, and brought other things from home. Stacy writes I was not to happy with Chris waking me up at 5:30 am to get on the internet but he is right it is a pain. Countdown Begins-T Minus 10

Hello to all. The weather today was a bit colder then it has been. It is very damp but still continue to walk back to hotel from orphanage. Dexter was a little sleepy at this morning visit. We took a coloring book and crayons(from Aunt Lisa) for him to play with since it was to cold to go outside. The other children did not go outside today either so the halls were filled with kids. Dexter would hide his crayons and other toys so the other children would not see them. He did not want to go back to his groupa this morning. We could hear him crying as we walked away. This is only the second time he has done this. We keep telling him only ten more days and we will break you out of here. We stopped at a shopping mall on our way back today. They are not the same as our shopping malls. Here they are more like small booths at a flea market. I think I am going to have to purchace a purse for myself here in Ukraine. I have seen many I like.
